The role we have is a combined role. The initial combination of roles, in order of importance are:
1. IT Support / Helpdesk Executive.
2. Infrastructure Maintenance.
3. Systems Administrator.
Some software development experience may be advantageous; there may be some opportunity to take on some software development responsibilities in the future.

Job Responsibilities
The day to day work will be to ensure that Mintel’s network, systems and hardware are operational, in order to allow the end users in the Asia Pacific region to perform their work. You will need to diagnose and troubleshoot a variety of problems, and escalate issues with sufficient detail that other teams can resolve them. Support and guidance will be given by the local head of software, and the infrastructure managers in the UK and US offices.
You will be responsible for the daily running and administraton of backup systems, email servers and active directory management. Hardware maintenance, network connectivity and file security will be handled by you, and you will need to provide application support for tools such as Mirosoft Office to local users. You will be involved in the hardware and software procurement and will need to ensure that licensing is up to date. Understanding of networking principles will be essesntial. Some basic Unix system administration will also be involved, with training supplied.
Mintel uses a variety of technologies, including FreeBSD/Unix, Windows 2000/2003 server, Apache, Squid, NFS, LDAP, MySQL, Lotus Notes, Domino and Active Directory. Knowledge of any of these technologies would be advantageous, but is not a requirement.
